Cezanne – A Survey of Modernity

London, TATE MODERN, 5th October 2022 – 12th March 2023

My museum tours are back! Join me for a special day out and be inspired by Cezanne, an artist of truly tremendous genius.

Join me on a guided exploration of this important exhibition of works by Paul Cezanne at the TATE MODERN, first shown at the Art Institute of Chicago, and including both well-known, and rarely seen works from private collections.

The artist and his work:

French artist Paul Cezanne surprises us by his modernity well into the 21st century and continues to be an important inspiration today for any artist and art lover. By choosing traditional subjects, but braking the rules of classical perspective, Cezanne proposed a new radical language of forms and colours.

His landscapes (the mountain Sainte Victoire near Aix-en-Provence), his still-lifes (the famous apples), and his paintings of human silhouettes merging into natural settings (the bathers) are examples of his intense observation and invention of a new artistic language, building forms with colours.

Cezanne’s works are a pure delight to the eye, and reveals to the attentive viewer something essential and fundamental.

How it works:

I have been taking clients on museum explorations since 2016. My explorations are about enriching the exhibition for you through conversations and insights.

For museums, small groups are best. I try to keep these open tours to no more than 6 people.

It’ll last about an hour and a half, and then often coffee afterwards to round things off.

You can either join a tour already confirmed, or we can arrange a private tour at a date of your convenience.
