Contemporary art – Bermondsey

A WALK-THROUGH BERMONDSEY’S VIBRANT ART & CULINARY SCENE

When: Thursday 21 & 22 March / 11.00 am – 12.45 pm
Where: Bermondsey, London Glassblowing, 62-66 Bermondsey St, London SE1 3UD

Exceptional Art & Design brings you to the vibrant scene of Bermondsey. Two dates to choose from: Thursday 21 or Friday 22 March. From visiting one of Europe’s foremost glass art galleries and one of the longest running hot glass studios – a great extension from our recent visit to the craft and design fair – to visiting contemporary art, Bermondsey has much to offer to us. Among several other galleries, we will visit the striking modernist building of the White Cube – with its two current exhibitions, one showing a frieze of oil paintings by Sergej Jensen, another showing two bodies of work (sculpture and performative) by McClodden who finds inspiration in literature. We shall end at the Borough market where I have selected a few culinary highlights, just in time for lunch!

Somerset House COLLECT 24

INTRODUCTION AND A WALK-THROUGH OF COLLECT

When: Thursday 29 Feb & 1 March / 11.00 am – 12.45 pm
Where: Somerset House

Collect, presented by the Crafts Council, is the leading international fair for contemporary craft and design. This year, it celebrated its 20th anniversary, so there was a special buzz about it. Its new cohort of leading galleries and creative artisans from across the globe, altogether representing over 400 outstanding artists presented the pinnacle of craftsmanship as well as some unconventional pieces at Somerset House. Most of the work has been made in the last five years, with diverse materials – traditional and new – to create contemporary pieces for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Exceptional Art & Design in collaboration with the Crafts Council offered VIP access to the fair.

Contemporary Art – Mayfair – February 2024

Art exploration of the year in London, through the streets and mews of Mayfair, a chance to connect with the creativity that makes this city so fascinating.

At the Stephen Friedman gallery, we visited the Jeffrey Gibson exhibition – the first indigenous artist invited this year to represent the US at the Venice Biennale – as well as  galleries nestled in the heart of Mayfair (Bourdon street and Brook’s mews).
